Financial Assistance for International Students

International students may need to find funding opportunities for graduate school that come from outside sources. UTSPH international students have recommended the following organizations as a place to begin your search for scholarships and grants.

Applications are processed by the Office of Academic Affairs and Student Services and awarded by the UTHealth School of Public Health Scholarship and Traineeship Awards Committee.

Scholarships for Fall 2019-2020

Application will be available:  February 1 to March 15, 2019 (general application is now closed)

These scholarships are monetary awards based on criteria designated by the donor who created the scholarship. Endowed scholarships allow the UTHealth School of Public Health to award money to students each year. These monetary awards may be issued in one lump sum payment or throughout the academic year depending on the terms of the scholarship.

 Eligibility Criteria:   

  • Must be a currently enrolled School of Public Health student
  • Must be enrolled at the time of application for the scholarship and during the term of award
  • Must meet and maintain good academic standing  (C or better)
  • Open to part-time and full-time School of Public Health master’s and doctoral level students
  • Non-degree and certificate students are not eligible
  • All applicants are require to submit one letter of recommendation from their faculty advisor
    • NOTE: Some of the scholarships require two letters of recommendation (these are denoted by an *)
  •  Additional criterion varies with each scholarship  

Value of Award: The amount of each scholarship varies depending on the funding available for academic year. The award amounts range from $500.00 to $1,000.00.

Use of Award: The funds may be used for tuition and fees, books, travel or research.
