Public Health Students of African Descent

PHSAD Logo Established 2011

To raise awareness about public health issues affecting people of African descent through research, outreach, community service, professional development and social activities.

BRIEF HISTORY

The organization was founded in 2011 by Natarsha D. Horton, Desiree Y. McLain, Nantsiyi B. Mutima,  and Amber D. Owens. Unfortunately the organization dissolved in 2012 after the founders graduated. In Fall 2014 PHSAD was reactivated and restructured through the initiative of Benedict Emesowum and re-energized through many initiatives and hopes to be one of the most vibrant and active organizations in SPH for many years to come.
