The Texas Health Champion Award Ceremony is held annually to recognize leaders who have demonstrated exemplary achievement in reducing the burden and raising awareness of the obesity epidemic in Texas. The 2019 award ceremony will take place during the 12th Annual Texas Obesity Awareness Week, September 9-13, 2019.

Brian C. Castrucci, DrPH is the Chief Executive Officer at the de Beaumont Foundation. Throughout his career, Castrucci has been a disruptor, instigator, and fierce advocate for the public’s health. In past seven years, he has helped build the Foundation into a leading voice in health philanthropy and public health practice. He is an award-winning epidemiologist with 10 years of experience working in state and local governmental health agencies. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, editorials, and book chapters and has shared his unique brand of practice-based thought leadership in blog posts and podcasts on several platforms including Huffington Post, Governing, Primary Care Progress Notes, KevinMD.com, Healthcare Leadership Blog at HCLDR.org, ASTHO’s StatePublicHealth.org, and Health Affairs Blog.
