SEIS: Harris County CASPER Survey

SEIS: Harris County CASPER Survey

On Saturday, February 22nd, from 7am-5pm, at Lone Star College University Park the Student Epidemic Intelligence Society will be helping Harris County Public Health conduct a Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) survey for the Northwest Harris County Area. A CASPER is an epidemiologic technique designed to provide quickly and at low-cost household based information about a community. It is designed to assist personnel from any local, state, regional, or federal office in conducting a rapid needs assessment to determine the health status, basic needs, or knowledge, attitudes, and practices of a community in a quick and low-cost manner. Gathering health and basic needs information using valid statistical methods allows public health and emergency managers to make informed decisions.

This is a great event to meet local public health professionals, get experience conducting field surveys, and gain first-hand experience using a CDC created survey technique.
