Appari selected to NIH Early Career Reviewers Program

HOUSTON – Ajit Appari, Ph.D., was recently elected to the Early Career Reviewers (ECR) program at the Center for Scientific Review (CSR), National Institutes of Health.

As an ECR participant, Appari served on the review panel of the Health Disparities and Equity Promotion (HDEP) study section during the spring 2018 review cycle. The HDEP study section reviews applications where the primary aim is to address, reduce or eliminate health disparities and improve equity related to health risks, access to care, treatment, or health and health related outcomes.

Appari is an assistant professor in the Department of Management, Policy and Community Health at UThealth School of Public Health in Houston. He is a faculty affiliate of the Center for Health Systems Research, Policy, and Practice. Additionally, serves on the editorial board of the Electronic Commerce Research and Applications — one of the leading journals in the information systems discipline — as associate editor, and manages the journal’s review process for health care related manuscripts.

Appari’s research focuses on two related areas: economics of information technology in health care, and the socioeconomics of health and health care delivery to priority population particularly people with multiple chronic conditions. His research has been published in several top-tier health care journals as lead author or senior author including, Health Services Research, Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA), Journal of Health and Social Behavior, American Journal of Medical Care, and International Journal of Medical Informatics.
