What is the purpose of this tool?

This Facts & Tips Sheet provides general guidance regarding recent statutory changes involving parental consent processes for sexual education and abuse prevention. When parents are notified of the selected human sexuality and/or abuse prevention curricula, they must also receive an opt-in form. It is a good idea to review this tool prior to starting the implementation process so you have a good idea of how to handle the parental consent process.

 

Who should receive this tool?

This document should be printed and distributed to stakeholders who will be a part of the preparation process for program implementation. These might include: district wellness coordinators, curriculum coordinators, SHAC members, principals, and program facilitators/teachers.
