It is crystal clear that climate change is already affecting populations around the globe. Scientists also agree that human activities (primarily from burning fossil fuels) are causing the climate crisis. This means two things: first, the public health community must step up to the immediate challenge to protect against extreme heatwaves, flooding, and climate-sensitive diseases; second, advocate –also without delay– for a reduction in fossil fuel combustion. The health opportunity to reduce non-communicable diseases is enormous, and this presentation will show some of the latest findings in this area.
