Stay Connected and Become a Mentor
Stay in touch with fellow graduates, mentor current students, and expand your professional network by joining UTHealth Alumni Community, the official networking platform for UTHealth Houston alumni and students. This new platform, launched in partnership with the Office of Development, allows alums to personalize their UTHealth Alumni Community profile to highlight their career interests and skills, as well as ways in which they are willing to assist others through mentorship and networking.
Alumni can also stay up to date on events, search for job openings, support initiatives that align with their passions and seek career guidance for themselves with their UTHealth Alumni Community profile.

Attend events
UTHealth Houston School of Public Health hosts many events throughout the year. Information on these events is available on the school's event calendar.
Our signature event, the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health Alumni Reception, occurs during the American Public Health Association (APHA) annual meeting. Other events held throughout the year include alumni and career panels, networking receptions, and joint alumni mixers held in conjunction with other UTHealth Houston schools, including McGovern Medical School, Cizik School of Nursing, the School of Biomedical Informatics, MD Anderson Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Dentistry.

Career Services at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health is housed within the Office of Public Health Practice and Engagement. The Career Services team actively supports students and alumni to prepare for careers in public health by providing programming, tools, and resources,
Our dedicated team of professionals aims to understand the everchanging public health job market. Employers routinely engage with students and alumni, The Office of Public Health Practice and Engagement also publishes an array of resources, including degree-tailored career guides, employer information sessions, and industry-related workshops/events. Students and alumni are supported through skill-building workshops and networking events with support from the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health Library and Graduate Communication Center, faculty, alumni, and community partners.
Handshake
Handshake is a modern career development platform that the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health uses to connect our alumni and students to employment and experiential opportunities. More than 6,000 public health employers are on Handshake, including our faculty and staff, with available graduate assistant, graduate research assistant, and teaching assistant student employment positions. Current students and alumni can find additional information in the Career Services section of mySPH.
Networking and Professional Development
Networking events are held each semester to create organic connection opportunities for students and alumni with faculty, staff, employers, community partners, and school leadership. A variety of professional development events are hosted by the Office of Public Health Practice and Engagement, focusing on supporting students and alums with enhancing skills, such as self-marketing and employer targeting. Among the resources offered, current students receive complimentary access to LinkedIn Learning, where they can build soft skills, such as public speaking, or career-focused skills, such as project management.
