Event Description
Physical activity plays a critical role in improving both health and social outcomes, yet disparities persist in under-resourced communities. This session draws on findings from three community health assessments conducted in Houston and Austin, Texas to explore needs, assets, and opportunities for promoting active living. This webinar will highlight the value of university-community partnerships and participatory approaches for community-engaged co-learning for active living promotion.
Objectives
1. Describe current disparities in leisure-time physical activity in Texas children and adults
2. Identify helpful community assessment toolkits and participatory learning methods
3. Describe common barriers, facilitators and opportunities for active living promotion in under-resourced communities.
