Join the Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute (TEPHI) for our first Grand Rounds of 2023, featuring Dr. Anthony Maresso, Melnick Chair and Professor in Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine. In this presentation, Dr. Maresso will discuss the effort to implement a widespread wastewater monitoring program for pathogens of pandemic potential in the state of Texas. Items to be addressed include the history of environmental virology, the application of the field to the SARS pandemic, the virtues and limitations of the science and methodology of viral detection, the framework for a systemized public health reporting system in this space, and the challenges and prospects to come.
