Event Description
Cancer Research Day 2026 brings together faculty and students from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health and professionals from Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) to explore opportunities for collaboration in cancer prevention, control, and population health. Hosted through the DCHHS–UTHealth Houston Academic Health Department (AHD) partnership, this event is designed to strengthen connections between academic research and public health practice while advancing shared goals to improve cancer-related outcomes across communities.
Faculty will provide brief presentations highlighting their areas of expertise, current research, and ongoing projects related to cancer prevention, screening, disparities, behavioral health, community engagement, epidemiology, health communication, and related fields. DCHHS staff will share organizational priorities and emerging areas of interest, creating opportunities to identify shared interests and potential areas for collaboration.
The event will also include a facilitated discussion focused on partnership development, staff engagement opportunities, applied research, workforce development, and future initiatives that can be advanced through the Academic Health Department relationship.
