About
George Delclos, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D. is tenured Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics and Environmental Sciences (EHGES) at the UTHealth School of Public Health (UTSPH) in Houston, Professor and Marcus M. Key, M.D. – Shell Occupational and Environmental Health Endowed Chair, and Distinguished Teaching Professor of The University of Texas System. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Barcelona in 1981 and completed residency training in internal medicine and pulmonary diseases at the Baylor College of Medicine. He has an M.P.H. degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health, a Ph.D. in Health and Life Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, and is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases and occupational medicine. His current areas of research focus include: a) occupational and environmental asthma (epidemiological and clinical aspects, with an emphasis on healthcare workers and cleaners), b) national surveys of working conditions, employment and health, with a focus in Latin America, c) determinants of sickness absence, presenteeism and disability, and d) total worker health and expanding paradigms for occupational safety and health.
