About
I am trained as a perinatal epidemiologist. The majority of my research addresses the prevention of structural birth defects. I have studied the links between maternal obesity, maternal diabetes, maternal infection and fever, contraceptive choices and birth defects. Recently, I have worked on the etiology of microcephaly and links between maternal exposure to high dosage radiologic exams and birth defects. I am the lead instructor for the Fall Semester Maternal Child Health Training Seminar with focuses on pregnancy and birth and I am a lead instructor for Epidemiology III and Epidemiology IV.
