About

I am an Associate Professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health, where teaches a graduate course on health disparities. He is also a Research Scientist at the Texas Health Institute. In his positions Dr. Andrulis leads the development of initiatives on health care for vulnerable populations, racial and ethnic disparities, and cultural competence, working at community, state and national levels. Previously, Dr. Andrulis was the Associate Dean for Research of Drexel University’s School of Public Health in Philadelphia and directed its Center for Health Equality. His current and recent work have focused on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its implications for racially and ethnically diverse populations, leading a set of reports entitled the Affordable Care Act and Race, Ethnicity and Equity Series, addressing the exchanges, workforce, safety net, public health, prevention and data, research and quality. He is also Co-Investigator on a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation supported project: The Health Opportunity and Equity Initiative (HOPE) as part of their Culture of Health Initiative; and participates as a lead investigator on United Health Foundation veterans reports entitled, The Health of Those Who Have Served and The Health of Women Who Have Served. Dr. Andrulis led the development of a Marketplace Health Equity Assessment Tool. With support from WK Kellogg Foundation, The California Endowment and the Connecticut Health Foundation, this protocol offered a comprehensive review and evaluation of progress in insuring diverse populations and in improving access to care; and was principal investigator on a Sierra Health Foundation initiative on social determinant-related access to care challenges for racially, ethnically and linguistically diverse populations in South Sacramento. Other initiatives included creating an Organizational Cultural Competence Assessment Protocol, which offers health care settings a diversity inventory tool.
