About

Gretchen H. Walton, JD, MPH, is a Texas- and Missouri-licensed attorney and an expert in nonprofit and healthcare law and management, health disparities project management, community facilitation, qualitative data collection and analysis, and policy development and implementation. For the past decade, Dr. Walton’s grant-funded research projects have included health disparities work in the underserved African American, Asian, and Hispanic communities in the Greater Houston, Texas area through partnerships with entities such as Susan G. Komen – Houston Affiliate, the American Cancer Society, AHRQ, CPRIT, Avon Foundation for Women, and the Episcopal Health Foundation. Dr. Walton was also the former Executive Director of the Breast Health Collaborative of Texas (BHCTexas). BHCTexas is a 501(c)(3) which touts a state-wide membership roster of over 3000 organizations and individuals, which, through community engagement strategies and outreach initiatives, works to unite the Texas Breast Health Community to educate, advocate, navigate, and maximize resources to ensure quality breast care for all Texans. Dr. Walton currently does research and service work in the food insecurity space for college students. As Director of "The Cupboard," the student food and resource pantry, and Director of the Student Emergency Fund, her service makes the day-to-day life of our students easier.
