About
I am interested in risk factors related to obesity and vascular health at both the genotypic and phenotypic level across the lifespan. I have worked primarily on the Fels Longitudinal Study, the world's longest running study of body composition. Using a variety of statistical and statistical genetic methods such as mixed-longitudinal analyses and family-based genome-wide association studies (GWAS) respectively, I have examined the influence of genetic and non-genetic risk factors on blood pressure (BP), obesity, and body composition. I am currently working on a maternal and child-health intervention study to examine a promotora-led psychological flexibility intervention aimed at decreasing maternal post-partum depression in the border region of the Rio Grande Valley.
