About

I am Professor in the Implementation Science Institute and the Department of Management, Policy, and Community Health at UTHealth School of Public Health. I was trained as an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist and Health Services Researcher. My research centers organizational processes as core mechanisms shaping implementation and outcomes, with particular attention to care fragmentation and integration, team coordination under uncertainty and competing demands, and how organizations balance multiple goals related to quality, access, safety, and efficiency. I study how organizational structures, climates, and relational dynamics, such as teamwork, learning, coordination, and leadership, enable or constrain complex, team-based and cross-sector care. Current funded projects examine access to community mental health care for Texas youth at risk of suicide, integrated care for individuals with a history of homelessness in Austin, TX, and a randomized trial of a work stress intervention for harm reduction workers in Texas and neighboring states. I participate in the Bipolar Disorder Integrated Network with Dell Medical School.
