Dr. Agopian's research primarily focuses on identifying the determinants of birth defects, including congenital heart defects, neural tube defects, orofacial clefts, and others. Risk factors of interest include a wide range of maternal and infant risk factors, including co-occurring birth defects and maternal conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension), nutritional, occupational, and environmental factors, as well as common and rare genetic variants.
