Event Description

The Annual Philip R. Nader Legacy of Health Lectureship promotes and inspires academics, providers, public health students and community residents to stimulate the fields of primary prevention and community pediatrics. The overall goal is to move the needle toward an improved health status for both parents and children by focusing on early lifecycle systems.

The 11th Annual Lectureship, "Food is Medicine Interventions to Support Food & Nutrition Security: Where do we go from here?", will feature keynote speaker Dr. Hilary Seligman.
Food is Medicine (FIM) is rapidly gaining momentum as health systems, insurers, and policymakers look to food and nutrition interventions to support chronic disease prevention and management. This talk examines the evidence behind various approaches (produce prescriptions, medically tailored groceries, medically tailored meals), including what we know—and still don’t know—about their effects on health outcomes, utilization, and costs.  The talk will explore some of the practical and policy challenges of bringing Food Is Medicine into health care, highlight where the evidence is strongest and where important gaps remain, and offer opportunities for clinicians and health systems to help shape the next generation of Food Is Medicine programs.

This 1.5-hour webinar will include introductions, background on Dr. Nader’s legacy, the keynote presentation from Dr. Seligman, and an opportunity for interactive questions and answers with attendees.
