About

Caitlin Murphy, PhD, MPH is Associate Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences and Member of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research at UTHealth School of Public Health. Dr. Murphy's research focuses on understanding the causes and outcomes of cancer diagnosed in young adults. She has experience conducting population-based research across the cancer care continuum, including etiology and risk assessment, screening, patterns of care delivery, and cancer survivorship. Most recently, she is Principal Investigator of a National Cancer Institute-funded project to identify risk factors of early-onset colorectal cancer; a U.S. Department of Defense-funded project to examine fertility and reproductive outcomes in young cancer survivors; and an American Cancer Society-funded project to study treatment adherence in underserved, young adults with cancer. Prior to joining the faculty at UTHealth, Dr. Murphy was faculty at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She received her MPH in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science from UTHealth School of Public Health and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
