About
Dr. John obtained her MPH with honors in Epidemiology from Texas A&M University and her PhD with honors in Epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health. Dr. John’s research examines key social determinants of health that contribute to racial/ethnic disparities in food insecurity, physical activity, and related chronic conditions and uses multilevel, interprofessional strategies (e.g., medical-legal partnerships) to address social needs in underserved communities. In addition to research, Dr. John teaches Field Epidemiology during the spring and Special Topics in Epidemiology (Health Equity) in the summer alongside Dr. Sharma. She is also the founder of the 7-week Summer Intensive Fellowship Experience (SIFE), a -student-informed graduate health equity training experience- which is housed within the Center for Health Equity.
