About
Kaiming Bi, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Management, Policy & Community Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health (UTSPH) and an affiliated member of the Center for Health Care Data. Dr. Bi’s research interests focus infectious disease modeling, epidemic forecasting, and supporting public health decision-making. His research spans topics such as respiratory infectious diseases, vector-borne diseases, sexually transmitted infections, and the opioid epidemic. Dr. Bi specializes in mathematical modeling, simulation, optimization, data analytics, and machine learning, leveraging quantitative and engineering methods to address challenges in public health and infectious disease research. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Kansas State University, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, and worked as a research associate in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Bi has published in Plos Medicine, Nature Communications, Epidemics, Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, Computer and Industrial Engineering and other journals.
