About
Dr. Tsai currently serves as Regional Dean and Professor of Public Health at UTHealth. He also serves as Research Director for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans. Prior to coming to UTHealth, he served on faculty at Yale School of Medicine for a decade where he is now a Professor Adjunct of Psychiatry. His work has been funded by federal grants for nearly 20 years and he has published extensively on topics related to homelessness, severe mental illness, trauma, and health disparities. He has been elected to leadership positions in the American Psychological Association and the American Public Health Association. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of npj Mental Health Research, and the Journal of Social Distress and Homelessness. Dr. Tsai is Taiwanese American and enjoys spending time with his family.
