About

Dr. Ashley Shaw earned her PhD at University of Missouri and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health - Houston. Her research focuses on developing and evaluating culturally tailored, community-based lifestyle interventions to reduce dementia risk among older Black adults. Her work explores how diet, cardiometabolic health, and social determinants of health influence brain health and contribute to disparities in cognitive aging. In addition to research, Dr. Shaw partners with community organizations to promote sustainable, equity-driven approaches to dementia prevention. She is particularly interested in culturally adapted dietary interventions that integrate nutrition, faith, and community engagement to support healthy aging and promote health equity.
