Robert J. Emery, DrPHRobert J. Emery, DrPH, associate professor in the division of Epidemiology, Human Genetics and Environmental Sciences at The University of Texas School of Public Health and vice president of safety, health, environment & risk management at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) has been selected to receive the 2012 Howard Fawcett Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Chemical Health and Safety (CHAS).

Established in 1983, the Howard Fawcett Chemical Health and Safety Award recognizes outstanding individual contributions to the field of Chemical Health and Safety. The award consists of a commemorative plaque and a $500 prize for expenses so that the recipient can be present at an award symposium at the fall ACS national meeting.

Emery is also a Lieutenant Commander (0-4) in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (Inactive Reserve Corps) and a member of Texas Radiation Advisory Board. He holds numerous board certifications and registrations in the field of environmental and occupational health and safety.
