HOUSTON – An abstract by Melissa Peskin, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health, has been selected as an “Abstract of Distinction” by the Society for Prevention Research (SPR). This is the second year that SPR has conferred this honor and the organization states that its objective for this accolade is to “identify and highlight abstracts and topics that are particularly noteworthy.”
Her abstract, titled, “Me & You: an effective technology-based healthy relationships curriculum for middle school students,” will be presented at SPR’s 26th annual meeting, titled, “Optimizing the relevance of prevention science to systems,” to be held May 29-June1, 2018 in Washington, D.C.
Peskin is a faculty member affiliated with UTHealth School of Public Health’s Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research. Her research interests include child and adolescent health, specifically in HIV, STD and pregnancy prevention; violence; bullying and cyberbullying; and intervention development and program evaluation.
