Project

Child home safety in Hispanic and rural communities: A community health worker intervention.

Project Overview

Unintentional injuries in the home environment are a leading cause of preventable death among children. In partnership with the Office of Border Public Health, UTHealth is developing and pilot testing a culturally tailored, community health worker driven intervention to address child home safety hazards. Community health workers will deliver a home safety assessment and intervention in rural communities along the U.S. Mexico border. UTHealth will also provide community health worker training on the certified curriculum.
