About

Dr. Savas is an epidemiologist and behavioral scientist with over 25 years of experience conducting research focused on the behavioral, social, environmental, and structural determinants of health. As an intervention and implementation scientist, Dr. Savas develops and evaluates community- and clinic-based interventions and implementation strategies aimed at improving public health outcomes. She has extensive expertise in community-engaged research, comprehensive needs assessments, and systematic intervention planning, ensuring that evidence, theory, and stakeholder partnerships guide the design, implementation, and evaluation of health interventions and implementation strategies. Dr. Savas has served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI on numerous community and clinic initiatives, including cancer screening, HPV vaccination, and COVID-19 testing and vaccination programs. She also leads studies to support the scale-up of evidence-based programs within clinical systems and co-leads the evaluation of statewide mental health initiatives in Texas.
