About
Dr. Vahed Maroufy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2016. His PhD research focused on applications of convex and differential geometry in statistical inference and optimization, as well as Bayesian sample size determination in clinical trials. Dr. Maroufy’s research focuses on the development and application of advanced statistical and computational methods for biomedical and health data. His areas of expertise include variable selection and linear modeling, Bayesian methods, and large-scale data analysis using biomedical, claims, and electronic health record (EHR) datasets. He is also interested in computational statistical approaches to gene expression profiling, particularly in cancer studies.
