Social Adversity on Neurodegeneration Among Long-Term Caregivers.

Project Overview

This study will identify long-term caregivers of older adults in Cameron County, a group that may be at elevated risk of accelerated brain aging due to the stressful nature of their role.

Details:

This study will identify long-term caregivers of older adults in Cameron County, a group that may be at elevated risk of accelerated brain aging due to the stressful nature of their role. However, caregiving could also be highly rewarding — to better understand this nuance, we aim to identify factors external to the caregiving role, such as feelings of neighborhood safety or adverse life events, that impact these caregivers' brain health.
