Project Details

The Sons of Solomon project is a pilot study testing a culturally tailored, faith-based dietary intervention grounded in the MIND+SOUL model to reduce prostate cancer risk among Black men aged 50 and older in the historically underserved Acres Homes community of Houston, Texas. The study will assess the feasibility and acceptability of the intervention and evaluate preliminary changes in diet quality, prostate cancer prevention knowledge, and BMI. Narrative Inquiry Circles will be used to explore sociocultural influences on participant engagement and the sustainability of the program within church settings. The project will also produce two sustainable community-owned resources: a Faith-Based Nutrition Toolkit and a Wellness Steward Orientation to support future implementation in faith communities.
