What is the purpose of this tool?
This Facts & Tips Sheet will provide you with some information to help dispel common myths that might be held by stakeholders (e.g., parents, teachers, school board members) regarding sexual health education. It is a good idea to review these myths before you initiate a conversation with any stakeholder. You can also distribute this fact sheet to stakeholders or others who may have concerns regarding sexual health education in your district along with other key data (e.g., a teen birth rate map of your district).
Who should receive this tool?
This document should be printed and distributed to stakeholders who will be reviewing and selecting evidence-based programs for your district and who may have concerns regarding sexual health education. These might include:
- School board members
- Superintendents
- District wellness coordinators
- Curriculum coordinators
- SHAC members
- Principals
- Parents
