Since 2014, UTHealth Houston School of Public Health researchers have conducted the annual UTHealth PRIDE Survey to assess tobacco use and nicotine addiction among LGBTQ+ identified individuals. Originally centered on Houston residents, the research initiative has been extended to encompass the entire state of Texas since the COVID Pandemic.

At Goose Creek CISD, team members connect one-on-one with high school students to raise awareness about health topics, cancer awareness, and careers in public health.

The Healthy Liver/Hígado Sano Study is pilot testing a behavioral lifestyle intervention for Hispanic adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The project team has partnered with Legacy Community Health in Houston to deliver a culturally tailored intervention to a group of patients with NAFLD.

The faith-based, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is collaborating with The Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research (CHPPR) to promote cardiovascular health among patients by providing the Healthy Heart Ambassador program (HHA).
