The Simulation and Clinical Assessment lab provides students the opportunity to learn and practice skills needed in the clinical setting of dietetics. This lab uses a patient simulator, named Mr. Sims. Mr. Sims is a 3-G manikin, that through simulation and make-up artistry exhibits common nutrition-related medical conditions.
Students are able to speak to Mr. Sims, using proper consultation techniques, as well as perform physical assessments. This simulation lab aids the students in applying the knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy, as well as increasing their confidence to assess patients and provide evidence-based practice treatment and consults.
