Shafali Patel, a master of public health student, is a Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (SWCOEH) Trainee in industrial hygiene at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Born in India, Patel studied dentistry as an undergraduate making her a prime candidate to complete a summer internship for clinic safety at the John. S. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center at UTHealth Houston.

Dr. William "Brett" Perkison, MD, MPH, the Occupational Medicine Residency Program Director for the Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (SWCOEH), was part of team which presented a poster at the American Public Health Association Meeting in Atlanta in November.
