OUR STATE OF HEALTH
Health of Texas is a program that aims to understand the state of health in Texas. As the next part of Texas CARES, we will expand our focus to include chronic and acute disease, cancer, maternal health, behavioral health, health care usage, and other health-related topics impacting Texans.
With your participation, we hope to create a report that presents the long-term impacts of chronic and infectious diseases and the way participants view public health across Texas, including cities, small towns, and rural areas. Texas CARES participants who have taken at least one survey will receive an invitation to participate. We are not enrolling new participants at this time.

HEALTH OF TEXAS ELEMENTS
Health of Texas includes three elements: Health of Texas Community, Health of Texas Data and Health of Texas Horizon.

Health of Texas Community
Health of Texas Community includes participants who will contribute to understanding chronic and acute disease, cancer, maternal health, behavioral health, and health care utilization. This will define a path that leads to insights about long-term health impacts and the way participants view health across Texas, including cities, small towns, and rural areas.

Health of Texas Data
The Texas Legislature has asked UTHealth Houston School of Public Health to securely house Texans’ health-related information. Health of Texas Data will connect to your already available health information to provide a more complete picture of health needs across the state.
OUR TEAM
Health of Texas is managed by a collaborative team from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health.
Core Health of Texas planning team members include Dr. Eric Boerwinkle, Dr. Cecilia Ganduglia Cazaban, Dr. Melissa Valerio-Shewmaker, Jessica Ross, Ximena Flandes Amavisca and Amy Casebier.
