Heather has been in public education for 24 years. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education. She began her career as a special education and general education teacher in North East ISD then moved to Northside ISD as a general education teacher. During her time as a teacher in Northside, she attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She began working in elementary school administration shortly after earning her degree. Heather continued in elementary administration once moving to New Braunfels ISD, where she has been an Assistant Principal and Principal for the past 11 years. Her position of principal was at the district’s early childhood campus where they have a strong partnership with Head Start that allowed her campus to be selected as one of 12 from across the nation to participate in a National Head Start Office Collaboration Project to promote the transition from early childhood and head start programs into public school districts. Her campus was also a finalist and state-wide winner for the HEB Excellence in Education Awards earning the campus $30,000 in grant money.

Heather enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and traveling to the beach in her free time along with spending time with her husband and 9-year-old daughter, Stella.
