Dr. Divya Patel is an Associate Professor at UTHealth School of Public Health in Austin. She is an epidemiologist (PhD, 2003, The University of Michigan) with a broad research interest in women’s health. She leads research projects aimed at increasing access to health care services and improving health outcomes for underserved populations and serves as the Research Director for the Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies, the perinatal quality collaborative for Texas. Previously, she served on the faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Michigan, the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale University, and the Department of Community Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. She has also worked at the Center for Health Statistics at the Texas Department of State Health Services and at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Reproductive Health, on population-level maternal/child health projects. Dr. Patel has taught graduate-level epidemiology courses, and serves as a mentor to public health and medical students.
