Raja Malkani is a Research Assistant for the School Physical Activity and Nutrition Survey (SPAN) project, which tracks dietary and physical activity behaviors and obesity among children in Texas.  He has worked with SPAN data since 2010.  Raja also worked for several years as an actuary at the Texas Department of Insurance, where he reviewed premiums for various types of health insurance.

Raja received his B.S. degree in Mathematical Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.  In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and exploring new plant-based recipes.

The Texas SPAN survey was established to track the prevalence of overweight and obese school-aged children in Texas.
