Post heat wave: Center experts continue researching wide-ranging impacts of high temperatures statewide and in Austin

Austin, Texas, June 13, 2024 — As Texas temperatures rise this summer, researchers at the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living are studying heat hazards to develop heat-safe programs and resources, and promote healthy behaviors.
Dr. Kevin Lanza, assistant professor of environmental & occupational health sciences at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Austin, is available to discuss how heat waves and high temperatures:
- Disproportionately impact vulnerable populations
- Make physical activity outdoors more challenging
He can also provide insights on evidence-based behaviors and policy changes.
