Healthy Summer Challenge
Published: May 8, 2026
School is out, and summer is the perfect time for families to build healthy habits together! This summer, the Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living encourages children and families to stay active, eat nutritious foods, and care for their mental and physical well-being through our Healthy Summer Challenge calendars. Throughout the summer months, families are invited to complete fun, simple, and healthy activities designed to support overall wellness while school is out.
The Healthy Summer Challenge focuses on promoting balanced nutrition, physical activity, mindfulness, sleep, hydration, outdoor play, and positive daily habits. Families explore creative ways to stay healthy together by trying new foods, moving their bodies, limiting screen time, spending time outdoors, and practicing self-care routines before the school year begins.
Some of our favorite challenges include:
- Trying a new healthy recipe
- Hosting a family dance party
- Building an obstacle course
- Exploring nature outdoors
- Practicing meditation or mindfulness
- Creating positive affirmations
- Choosing water instead of sugary drinks
- Limiting screen time during meals or before bed
- Eating more fruits and vegetables
- Staying active through outdoor games and movement
Healthy habits are built one step at a time, and summer provides a great opportunity for families to create routines that can continue throughout the school year. Whether it is preparing balanced meals, spending time outside, staying active together, or prioritizing rest and mental wellness, each challenge encourages small but meaningful steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
We hope families enjoy participating in the Healthy Summer Challenge and discover new ways to support their health and well-being together. Thank you for sharing your healthy summer with us and following along on Facebook and Instagram throughout the season!
